I work at a bookstore and tonight I had a customer approach the register with several titles and Michelle Malkins new book "Culture of Corruption". She tells me "We would like to purchase this book separately and pay cash because we don't want our name associated with it." I was thinking, I totally get that and almost said it but I hesitated considering I live in a small, conservative town in Georgia. What came out of her mouth next just astounded me and I have worked in retail for 25 years and it takes a LOT to surprise me. Follow me over the fold for some real wing nuttery!
My customer then proceeded to tell me that they had heard about a soldier who questioned "his" birthplace and he was dismissed from the army and sent home immediately. They didn't want a "record" that they had purchased right wing propaganda on their credit card for fear of what might happen to them. The whole time I am thinking WTF??? Do they really believe that President Obama has nothing better to do than track every person who buys anything against him? And what do they think is going to happen? They are going to the FEMA camps or what? These people are so scary. Anyway, I just had to share some of the joy of working retail with you tonight. In the meantime, be careful using your credit card-apparently your government is watching your every move.
